Cupping therapy is a popular form of Chinese, Middle Eastern and Egyptian medicine that uses silicone, medical grade plastic or glass cups that use air pressure to create a vacuum suction of the skin/connective tissue. This modality helps with pain, inflammation, blood flow. While in the vacuum blood vessels expand and adhesions in fascia are relaxed. Silicone cups are used in place as well as to move along connective tissue in massage. Hard cups stay in place to slowly release tension and promote circulation in specific areas. Larger cups are used for large muscle groups and small cups silicone may be applied to the face and neck as part of a massage. If you are interested to know more- don’t hesitate to ask.
